Perhaps one of the best, least-known bites right now is the striper action in the Bullhead City stretch of the Colorado River. Here are just two nice fish caught in the past week. The top fish is a 26.72-pounder landed by Bob Tyler, Bullhead City, on an anchovy. The bottom fish is a 13.5-pounder caught by Shelly Meston, Bullhead, also on an anchovy. It was her first striper. There aren’t any real dedicated striper anglers targeting these fish with big swimbaits. In fact, most are being caught by shore anglers tossing bait. These big fish are probably vacuuming up the last of the trout planted here, but they sure look healthy. Rusty Braun of Riviera Marina (928-763-8550) says the fish have a lot of crawdads in them. You striper guys should take note.
