HIGH DESERT WATERS VICTORVILLE REGION

HESPERIA LAKE: The catfish action has been pretty good, with weekly plants on going. It was stocked with 1,000 pounds last Thursday and another 1,000 pounds is slated for this week. Most of the fish run from 1-8 to 2-0, but some up to eight pounds are in each stocking. Best fish this past week was a 13-8 landed by Brian Frandson, Appley Valley, but a 10=5 was caught by Enrique Lares, Hesperia. The top spots have been The Finger and Sandy Point, and various cut baits or the marshmallow-meal worm combo are producing the most fish. Adding one of the catfish dips or scents to the bait is a good idea. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: Heat has hammered the trout action with slow to fair action on both lakes this past week. The best bite has been on
PowerBait (especially rainbow, garlic and salmon peach), nightcrawlers, or small trout lures fished before 10 a.m. Even a few limits for hard-working anglers. Best spots include the northern and western shores of lake 2 and the eastern logged shore and western shore near the drain of lake 3. There has been pretty good bass action on the northern and southern shores of lake 2 near the inlets and on lake 3 near pump house, mostly on Senkos, spinnerbaits, and drop-shotted night crawlers. Some to four pounds. Still few reports on bluegill or catfish. For more information call (760)240-1107 or go to www.jessranchlakesnews.com.

MOJAVE NARROWS: The catfish bite has been fair to good after weekly plants, and there continues to be a good bite on hand-sized bluegill near any shoreline cover. Some limits reported. County catfish plants are weekly, but there is no fishing the day of the plant (Thursdays). Information, call 760-245-2226.
