1. The yellowtail bite at the Coronado Islands stays in the top spot. Many boats have reported five-fish limits of these nice 8 to 12 pound range fish. The fish are being targeting on three-quarter and full-day boats out of San Diego, and even on the ìbadî days, the average has been at least couple of fish per rod. For an update, check with 976-TUNA.com.

2. Quail Lake has continued to be a hot spot with very good catfish and bluegill action again this week and even more stripers showing. The catfish have been best at the outlet for anglers fly-lining big hunks of mackerel (so they don’t get snagged as often). The bluegill are best along the south shoreline tules on small baits under a bobber with fish to two pounds reported this week. The stripers have been best on ghost shrimp along the north shore. For an update on this bite, check with Amaysing Fishing Bait & Tackle at 661-429-5824.

3. Castaic Lake’s striper bite stays in the top picks again this week, continuing to edge out nearby Pyramid Lake. Castaic is simply producing nearly as many fish as Pyramid, but with much better quality. Lots of 10-fish limits in the past week (at both lakes) with fish showing on cut baits, topwater, or trolled umbrella rigs. For an update on this bite, call the marina at 661-775-6232 (www.CastaicLake.com) or Tackle Express at 661-251-8700.
