HESPERIA LAKE: The catfish action has been pretty good, with weekly plants ongoing. It was stocked with 1,000 pounds last Thursday and another 1,000 pounds is slated for this week. Most of the fish run from 1-8 to 2-0, but some up to eight pounds are in each stocking. Best fish this past week was a 11-0 caught by Robert Cushman, Apple Valley, on mackerel off the north shore. Noah Standafer, Hesperia, landed a 10-4 at the drain on a nightcrawler. Phillippe Placencea, Apple Valley, caught a 9-0 on anchovies off the north shore. Nick Ochoa, Hesperia, had a five-fish limit that weighed in at a total of eight pounds, all caught on the M&M (marshmallow-meal worm combo) at the drain. The top spots have been the North shoreline and The Finger, and various cut baits or the marshmallow-meal worm combo are producing the most fish. Adding one of the catfish dips or scents to the bait is a good idea. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout bite was fair to good on both lakes, with anglers using PowerBait (especially chartreuse, garlic, and salmon peach), nightcrawlers and a wide variety of small trout lures and jigs to get the rainbows. Even some limits reported for anglers fishing before 10 a.m. in the morning. The best spots include the northern and western shores of lake 2 and the eastern logged shore and western shore near the drain of lake 3. There is a good bass bite on the northern and southern shores of lake 2 near the inlets and on lake 3 near pump house on Senkos, spinnerbaits, and drop-shotted night crawlers with fish weighing up to four pounds. Bluegill are also good on nightcrawlers and meal worms with
fish weighing up to 1 pound. Hot spots for bluegill are the western shore of lake 3 near the pump house and the western shore of lake 2 near the drain. Few reports on catfish. For more information call (760)240-1107 or go to www.jessranchlakesnews.com.
