HESPERIA LAKE: The catfish action has been pretty good, with weekly plants on going. The last was stocked with 1,000 pounds last Thursday and another 1,000 pounds is slated for this week. Most of the fish run from 1-8 to 2-0, but some up to eight pounds are in each stocking. The top spots have been The Finger and Sandy Point, and various cut baits or the marshmallow-meal worm combo are producing the most fish. Adding one of the catfish dips or scents to the bait is a good idea. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.
JESS RANCH LAKES: The warm temperatures have shut down the trout action after 10 a.m., but the morning bite has remained good in both lakes for anglers using PowerBait (especially fluorescent orange, garlic, and spring green), nightcrawlers, or the usual array of small trout jigs and lures. Some even got limits. Best spots include the northern and western shores of lake 2, and the eastern logged shore and western shore near the drain of lake 3. The bass bite is also pretty good on the northern and southern shores of lake 2 near the inlets and on lake 3 near pump house. The best action has been on Senkos, spinnerbaits, and drop-shotted nightcrawlers with fish to five pounds reported. A few bluegill, but still no catfish reports. MOJAVE NARROWS: The catfish bite has been fair to good after weekly plants, and there continues to be a good bite on hand-sized bluegill near any shoreline cover. County catfish plants are weekly, but there is no fishing the day of the plant (Thursdays). Information, call 760-245-2226.
