HESPERIA LAKE: The last 1,000-pound trout plant was April 5, and it might be the last one for the season. Most of the fish are in the one to two-pound range. The bite has been fair to good, and the top fish this past week was an eight-pounder landed by Johnny Torres, Apple Valley,. John Jose, Hesperia, caught a seven-pounder. JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout bite has been very good in both lakes with anglers using PowerBait (rainbow, salmon peach, and garlic) nightcrawlers and small trout lures to catch fish. Best spots include the northern and eastern shores of shores of lake 2 and the eastern and western shores of lake 3. Ryan McMullan, Hesperia, landed a 6.28-pound rainbow on a Trout King off the north shore of Lake No. 2. The bass bite is starting with some fish moving shallow in lake 2 with fish up to four pounds reported. Still slow for bluegill and catfish. MOJAVE NARROWS: The trout bite has been pretty fair and some real quality fish have been reported. Richard Moore, Apple Valley, caught a 6-5 rainbow trout on a green jig Friday this past week (he landed a 10-pounder the week before). There are weekly county trout plants of 780 pounds per week.
